Before You Order

Am I choosing the right product?

This section helps you prepare for a Fenlux project by understanding how the system works on real sites and what basic planning is required before ordering.

How do I know if this fence or gate is suitable for my site?

Fenlux systems are designed for common residential fencing and gate applications, such as:

  • Front yard or side boundary fencing
  • House-side pedestrian entry gates
  • Driveway sliding or swing gates
  • Typical residential garden or perimeter fencing

If your project falls into these everyday residential scenarios, Fenlux products are suitable in most cases.

Your site does not need to be perfectly square or level.

What matters is having a clear understanding of your layout and being prepared to make minor on-site adjustments during installation.

What if my site is not perfectly level or square?

That is normal. Most real sites are not perfectly level or square.

Fenlux systems are designed to accommodate common site variations such as slight slopes, uneven ground, and irregular boundaries.

However, this also means the installation will require you to modify and adjust the kit to suit your site conditions.

Fenlux kits are designed to be adaptable, not pre-fitted to non-standard sites out of the box. Minor trimming, spacing adjustments, and on-site decisions are a normal part of the DIY process.

Do I need exact measurements before ordering?

Exact millimetre-perfect measurements are not required, but you should have a reasonable understanding of your project dimensions.

Before ordering, it is helpful to confirm:

  • Overall fence or gate length

(e.g. a total front yard boundary of 10m, including 5m of fence panels, a 4m sliding gate, and a 1m pedestrian gate)

  • Approximate post spacing

(e.g. for a 5m fence section, posts may be spaced roughly 2.5m apart — ensuring Fenlux panel sizes can suit or be shortened as needed)

  • Fence or gate height requirements

(e.g. if you plan to build a 1.8m high fence, check that Fenlux offers products in that height)

Final fitting and fine adjustments are typically complete on site during installation.

What happens if my post spacing doesn’t match the panelwidth exactly?

This is a common situation and is expected.

Fenlux products are supplied as modular kits and are designed to be modified on site.

Panels can be shortened to suit actual post spacing, but they cannot be extended beyond their supplied width.

For this reason, we recommend planning post spacing to match Fenlux standard panel widths, or slightly less.

Shortening panels on site is part of the normal installation process.

Can Fenlux products work on sloped or uneven ground?

Yes. All Fenlux fencing and gate systems can be installed on uneven or sloped ground.

The most common and straightforward approach is a stepped installation, where rectangular panels are mounted between posts at different heights.

This method requires minimal tools and is the fastest and most practical solution for most DIY projects.

It is also possible to create sloped (raked) panels to follow the ground angle, but this approach requires more advanced tools, accurate cutting, and higher installation experience.

If you are unfamiliar with these installation methods, a stepped layout is generally recommended.

What should I check before placing an order?

Before placing an order, it is recommended to check:

  • The total fence or gate length and layout
  • The required fence or gate height
  • Whether your project includes corners, slopes, or gates
  • Colour selection
  • That you have access to basic power tools
  • That you have enough space on site to assemble and handle components

If you encounter an unusual or site-specific detail and are unsure how it may affect your order, we recommend doing additional research or contacting us by email with specific questions.

During installation

What if something changes or goes wrong?

This section explains what to do if your project needs adjustment during installation — a normal part of working on real sites.

What if I realise something doesn’t fit during installation?

This can happen and is not unusual.

Most fitting issues are related to on-site spacing, ground conditions, or alignment rather than product faults.

Fenlux systems are modular and designed to allow adjustment during installation to suit actual site conditions.

Before making irreversible changes, it is recommended to pause and review your layout against the product specifications provided on the product page, such as component dimensions, batten spacing, and panel sizing.

These references are intended to help you reassess spacing and alignment before proceeding.

What if I ordered the wrong size or configuration?

In many cases, what appears to be an incorrect size can be resolved through on-site adjustment.

Fenlux components are supplied in standard sizes and are designed to be trimmed or modified during installation.

Panels, rails, and battens can be shortened in both width and height, and for some products’ batten spacing can be adjusted to suit your site.

Components cannot be extended beyond their supplied length.

For example, if a rail is supplied at 2385 mm, it can be cut shorter to suit a smaller opening, but it cannot be lengthened to suit a wider span without replacing the rail.

One advantage of Fenlux DIY systems is that individual components can be replaced if needed.

If a rail or component is cut incorrectly, you can purchase a replacement part and reassemble the section without replacing the entire kit — unlike welded
fence panels, where incorrect sizing often requires full product replacement.

Can I modify my order after purchase?

Order changes may be possible depending on the order status and product type.

Standard, unmodified items may be eligible for exchange or adjustment before installation.

Once products have been cut, opened from package, customised, or installed, they are generally no longer suitable for return.

Please note that certain costs are not covered by Fenlux, including return freight, restocking fees for large or bulky items, and handling costs associated with returned goods.

These costs reflect the size and handling requirements of fencing and gate products.

For this reason, confirming your layout and installation approach before making permanent changes is strongly recommended.

Please refer to our return policy for more details.

What should I do if I’m unsure during installation?

If you are unsure at any stage, the recommended approach is to pause installation rather than proceed with irreversible steps.

Most installation challenges are related to spacing, alignment, or installation sequence rather than missing parts or incorrect products.

In many cases, reassessing measurements, adjusting spacing, or changing the installation order can resolve the issue.

Fenlux systems are designed to allow rework.

If an adjustment does not work as expected, it is often possible to replace or reconfigure individual components rather than restarting the entire project.

This flexibility is a key advantage of modular DIY systems and provides room to adapt as you work through real on-site conditions.
